There were many reasons for people to travel to west Auckland, and many ways that they got there.
Was it for:- recreation - holidays, swimming, surfing and walking through the Waitakere Ranges
- employment - through the clay, logging and dam industries
- ways to get to their destination - by train, horse and cart, automobiles, boats and ferries, roads and motorways
- peace and quiet - using the bush as inspiration for artists and artisans.
Historic photographs and sound clips from personal stories are used to illustrate these journeys.
