Picture this: Portuguese adventurer Don Buck rides up to an apple orchard where a hui is taking place. In attendance are the painter Goldie and some present-day historians and Lebanese, Dutch, Croatian and Māori elders.
This is artist Allie Eagle's 7m x 2m watercolour and wax masterpiece work, which draws on subjects both celebrated and lesser known, past and present. Depicted in the artwork are 74 people, places, structures or items related to the West. A small take home poster will be provided.
Allie will reveal her artistic process, used with her atelier-style workshop of artists and assistants, to contextualise the many characters behind this extraordinary painting.
